Some pensioners to begin getting €130 a year phone bill allowance to prevent 'social isolation'

THE GOVERNMENT HAS announced that a new social welfare payment .

The Telephone Support Allowance of €2.50 a week is aimed at people who live alone, and are already in receipt of other social welfare payments.

Minister for Employment Affairs and Social Protection Regina Doherty said that the purpose of the payment is to “help prevent social isolation among more vulnerable members of society”.

New call for applications under the Ability Programme

The Ability Programme is a new programme funded by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection and the European Social Fund.
The Ability Programme will support young people with disabilities (15-29 years of age) to improve their employability through a range of person-centred supports.
Organisations can apply for funding using Pobal’s online application form. Our online application form will be available from 4th December 2017. The closing date for applications is 12pm on Wednesday 31st January 2018.
